We really wouldn't insist, if it should work otherwise. Moreover, the help
file:

help basedev-->Adaptec SCSI-adapters--> aic7870.add-->ET,

this help file says the /ET switch MUST be enabled to have multiple lun
support. Big Blue is insisting authority, really. We know you don't use the
switch. There must be a particular reason for, and it would be of interest to
sort that out. Maybe you can give us some hints?

On all other AIC7870.* systems I'm aware of, there is no multiple lun support
without the /ET switch.

Would be worth one's while to sort that out, really.
