JG> I need to design bitmaps for a game and I'd like to use something
JG> more advanced than WinOS/2's Paintbrush.

 DL> OS/2's IconEdit?

I don't know if it's my machine, my version of Warp, or what, but sometimes
when I save image files in the icon editor, it loses random pixels. It's
annoying enough that I no longer design icons if I can avoid it because I
hate having to re-do the same thing multiple times until it saves
correctly.

DL> Guess that's not advanced enough, eh?

See above.

 DL> Well, there's also
DL> EA's Deluxe Paint (used by most game designers...or at least it used to
 DL> be..it's a DOS program), Corel Draw's PhotoPaint
 DL> (Windows and OS/2 versions
DL> available), NeoPaint (DOS), and ColorWorks (OS/2).

I already found NeoPaint on Walnut Creek's ftp site. Haven't found
ColorWorks,do you know where I can f'req or ftp it? My only problem with
buying a commercial package is that I'm at the mercy of my software store
if I don't like it. Although they claim to have a 30-day refund policy,
it's like pulling teeth to get them to commit on it for OS/2 software
because it oftentimes has to be special-ordered (or any other software
running on an OS/2 system -- I asked them if a particular Win3.1 package
would run under OS/2 and was told that it probably wouldn't, and that I
shouldn't buy it and that they wouldn't give me a refund if I knowingly
purchased incompatible software[1]).

JG> Do any compilers come with such a thing? I'd prefer a native
JG> OS/2 proggie but I'll settle for anything that runs reliably

DL> Any compilers shipping with the OS/2 SDK include IconEdit (the same one
 DL> included with OS/2.)

Bummer. I would hope that *someone* would come up with something better.

[1] It ran okay, and I didn't need to return it, but I *hate* dealing with
morons like those guys.
