How are you today Matt ? MM> In _normal use_ they should be gridded full time. For some of us in MM> lightning prone areas, I sometimes pull the plug and keep it 10 feet MM> away from the wall outlet! It will be from now on, Matt. I just recently gave it away to a good friend with the added caution. MM> "Automatic Boot after Power failure". This sounds like your setup, and MM> is considered 'dangerous' by some, including me. I had a good and many looks at the BIOS and I can not remember any of this option. MM> I prefer for the power to come back on and get stable before turning MM> the system back on. In Ham radios, there was nothing worst than a "brownout". No transistor can survive very long in that condition. I like the laptop where the built-in battery is a UPS. That system only gave me one problem until I understood what the warning meant, the modem was bad and it only stated "PCI Communication Device". Took me a while to realise that the modem was the culprit. It now has a similar modem as the one in discussion betweem WC and JH. It is working wonders now. ___ Blue Wave/QWK v2.12 --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5* Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 123/140 500 106/2000 633/267 |
