article in their magazine, dealing with "computers having a
mind of their own, and talking back to their owners".

  I don't remember who wrote the article, but the exchange
went something like this, with the computer encountering
a programming error...

  "Incorrect Parameter Junction!! Whoopsie!! What's this??
