It is DISASTROUS.  The protocol is not meant to ever produce a
grunged file, it's meant to just fail completely.  The CRC at
1024 byte blocks is meant to be good enough so that there is a
1 in 4 billion (I think) chance of an error slipping through.

BTW, whatever you do, don't go and replace your modem.  I want
to see Netcomm FIX the problem with your modem, so that hopefully
it will also do the same for Bill's modem.  BFN.  Paul.
