Well, we DID solve ONE problem this past couple weeks. Susan's
teacher is now sending her reports and lesson plans for the week not via the
reluctant-to-deliver student, but via POSTAL mail! I wrote a letter to her
the other day requesting the books that are not normally allowed out of
school be sent home for the long weekend so that Susan could catch up.
Request honored, and Susan did! Last night we had a good night out
researching at the library. Maybe that's what I need to do: Find some way to
bond "bonding time" with STUDY time. Then perhaps drudgery-study will
eventually evoke memories of fun times we had studying or going here or there
to gather up the things she needed. Never know.. could work.. :-)
Also: When I wrote the letter to the teacher (which the janitor was
kind enough to alllow us in to put it right on her desk Thursday after
school) I included my internet address on the bottom of the letter as an
afterthought. Result: Running dialog now with the teacher as she reads HER
internet mail each day...!
