Agreed,  if I have a choice between PnP and not,  with being able to set
stuff up by jumpers in the latter case,  that's what I'm gonna do here. 
The only time I use PnP is when I don't have a choice.  And then I'll set
it once and leave it alone...

I seem to also recall that MSD will tell you that there's stuff on the
first three com ports when in actual fact you might have something like 1,
2, and 4 in there...
