subject: new message area/menu

Hi Chris,
 LH> Hi,
 Cb> Howdy!
LH> I hope someone can give me some help. I am running
LH> max 2.02 and please don't tell me to upgrade. I like
 LH> this version.
Cb> Don't smack me for this one.. but the 3.x versions
Cb> solve this completely for you. ( I ran 2.01wb right up
 Cb> untill I switched to 3.x ) I have found no difference
Cb> in operation, or newer memory overhead requirements.
I won't smack you, I just prefer this version.
LH> I am trying to figure out an easy way to make some
LH> message changes. I want to have a menu something like
 LH> this:
 LH> Local Messages
 LH> Fidonet Local Message Bases
 LH> Fidonet National Message Bases
 LH> Netmail/Internet e-mail
Cb> In the new max, the message areas are hiearchyal
Cb> And will do exactly what you want.
Why can't I accomplish it with a separate control file for each area?
I know that they need to be put in Max.Ctl which I have done.
LH> I know I need a ctl file for each area and I am
LH> working on them. What I want to know is: can I have
LH> each area start with Area 1 without getting them mixed
LH> up? So far I have them as starting with different
 LH> numbers. I have msgarea.ctl, msgarea1.ctl &
LH> msgarea2.ctl and am putting them in max.ctl.
Cb> I have 1 defined as my sysop area, and I have 1 defined
Cb> in three sub areas.. works fine.
That sounds just like I want to do.
LH> If anyone can give me a little help, I would
 Cb> appreciate it very much.
Cb> It wasn't what you wanted.. I'm sure.. but I hope it
Cb> helps. ( I upgraded for the same reasons... message
 Cb> areas )
Cb> It is a very clean install/upgrade option.. Was painless.
Thanks for your imput, anyway. I will consider all options.
    TTYL
