The problem I had with the SAVINGS GOAL method was that savings goal accounts
cant have a negative balance. I run a small "candy store" off my desk at
work with proceeds supporting 2 needy kids thru Children International. I
deposit the charity stores "income" into my account and draft sponsor schecks
from my account. My sponsor checks amount to two $12 checks a month. The
charity stores "income" varies so the "pseudo-account" often has a negative
balance. Quicken says thats a no-no and wont let me log the sponsor checks
cause the Goal account has insufficient funds. I havnt found a work around
except the one stated in my previous post(hope they stay together so you can
see both).
I spose I could always shove some of my money into the GOAL account and just
make a mental note that is is my money. I was already using the method in
the previous message with an older version of Quicken that didnt have GOAL
accounts so it was just a natural progression into the new version w/o
re-aranging stuff. It still bears some thought. If I get a week or two(to
sort transactions for the "new" method), I might try to set it up in a GOAL
account on a seperate quicken FILE and when done, compare the two and see
which I like best. Then go from there. Who knows, I love to tinker but not
sure how involved the sorting would become. Might be easy since all of the
trans for each "GOAL" account are already in seperate "CHECKING" accounts.
