Now this is more like what I was looking for.

I'll take another swing at making out the markings under good
light with magnifying lenses.

All jumpers are currently open and the utility to set the COM and IRQ
reports IRQ 5 COM 3.

I finally located a model number, it's an Akita SCM001369-04
and there's one support site I found that provided the V.90
flash.
I need to copy that file over to another drive just in case.
What you relate above makes sense and I was inclined to guess something
like this but I abhor guessing where a valued piece of hardware is at
stake.

Currently in older hardware, not PnP, I'll try for COM 3 IRQ 4
set in the jumpers then try some of the entries in my very old
dialer on that machine.
I'm pretty sure it won't support 56K in that machine.

The modem is slated eventually for a PnP system but it's not up
and running yet.

I've debated installing it in this system but there are
some minor complications there.

Thanks for the assist as so far I've come up empty on the net
for JPG's, GIF images of jumper assignments or a manual for the modem.

Though like I said I found the flash to take it to V.90 of it's
still X2.
Appreciate the reply.
