Hi, James! Recently you wrote in a message to Ardith Hinton:

Uh-huh. I suspect a lot may have to do with age... at 93, my
father recovered less than his sister had at 63. Older folks probably tend
to be less resilient, and they may also find it more difficult to get
others to take their need for therapy seriously. But they're often quite
relieved to hear that they have choices, that a diagnosis of xxx is not a
death sentence nowadays.... :-)

Yes, my father made the same mistake when my mother had a
relatively minor stroke. Two years later he had a much more serious
stroke... and by that time my mother couldn't lift a newspaper because (she
said) it was "too heavy". But then he was hospitalized & she
suddenly found herself living alone.... :-/

JB> The easy way out, I was never really interested in.

I can relate! As I've commented before, I didn't choose the
"Mickey Mouse" courses when I was in school. If we chose our
assignments before we got to this earth it would be just like me to ask for
what I have now... [chuckle].

JB> and give myself another challenge/therapy.

I can relate to that too. We had to make room for Nora's
wheelchair & suchlike when we barely had enough space already. Then
both my parents died, meaning there's a lot more stuff which needs to be
dealt with. I don't find it easy to get rid of stuff or figure out where
to keep it. I enjoy rummage sales
... so I understand how one might get carried away at auctions! The net
result is that I have to do quite a bit of lifting & twisting, just as
you do.... :-)

JB> [After 29^C today, and 94% humidity yesterday, I just
JB> caught my first real breeze through the house since
JB> the rain stopped. B-]

My mother came here to get away from the heat... my father came
here to get away from the cold. I'd like to think they had the right
idea.... :-))
