-> TW> BUT they are mostly a "static" display. They have very Few Running -> TW> Steam Engines. -> FWIW, there's a group that does a get-together not too far from here each year -> around the beginning of september... -> Not just trains, but all sorts of steam-powered stuff. The last time I was -> there they even had an actual steam-driven sawmill in operation. It was pretty -> interesting to watch, along with a lot of the other stuff there. -> It's a real shame that we've pretty much lost a lot of that technology and -> know-how in this country any more. the southern California area has several quite active Antique Engine groups. Up in Vista Calif(an hour of so drive form San Diego) they have a Farm Museum. During most of the year ist is just Static Displays ofr the Old Equipment. Twice a year, In the Spring and Fall they operate as much equipment as posable. And actualy harvest a crop so they can run the old thresshers etc. They also have a full blacksmith shop they show off. The Old Engine people come out of the woodwork to setup and and run their engines. Not much steam but they do have a couple of pieces. Including a Steam Shovel. Saddly it needs serious Boiler work right now. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5* Origin: Shakey Jake's *ALL FREE BBS* Santee, CA (1:202/1324) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 202/1324 10/3 106/2000 633/267 |
