This reply does not compute (by me): same name does not imply same content.

Check a random example of a C:\WINDOWS\NTUnInstallxxxx directory, and
you'll loose all hope(:-(( Not that it really matters what these
directories contain (I delete them routinely), but it illustrates what a
Windows Update action does under the hood.

IF (I say IF, see my still more important "files in use"
paragraph) this COPY operation succeeds, you may get a working
installation. But I'll expect that subsequent usages of Windows Update will
yield some complaints, sooner or later, especially when trying to reverse
some later update.

Of course, that goes without saying. Otherwise this operation would be a
Mission Impossible anyway.
