Agreed! In fact, of the dozens that I have read part or all of,
*none* of the ancient philosophers were atheist, and further, of
them, several produced atheist refutations... which has had me
wondering just who they were refuting besides being described as
'sophists'. Appearantly, there were some on the lecture tour of
the time making a living out of being outrageous. ;)
Another pet peeve, is the term 'pagan' applied to them; so far as
I can tell, they were not pagan, but monotheist. But, they were
also well aware of what happened to Socrates, whose ideas annoyed
some in the lucrative pilgrim business at Eleusis. They weren't
pagan, but polite and discreet.
So much has been written about them by *Christian* authors, that
their bias has been accepted as accurrate. it pisses me off.
