It depends on the original purchase price in most cases. It's
generally 10-40% of the original price unless it's precious metal.
Then ... you never know. I did just score some heavy 14k earrings
for $3 at a church sale; that's about 1/2 of 1% of the original
retail, at the 80s prices the original buyer probably paid. They're
damaged, so straight to melt they go. No loss, design-wise.
