-> TW> I used to turn my nose up at them alos. Untill I got to use one at -> TW> the Railroad Museum where I volunteer two days a week. I have more -> TW> respect for them njow but havent bought one yey. BUT have been -> TW> tempted several times by the Very Low priced ones, Compaired to my -> TW> most favored Craftsman, The China Importers are dumping on the -> TW> market. Out local Kragen Auto Store has had a 18 Volt 3/8 inch -> TW> drill at $39.95 for the last 4 months. -> They come in all shapees and sizes... I've seen a 1/2" hammer drill done in -> cordless... price in the kilobucks somewhere I think. and the cheap ones... -> well you get what you pay for, plastic mechanical parts, and diecast waering -> parts wouldn't surprise me, for the very casual user that is just fine. Yuo do get what yuo pay for though. It has the Littlest 18 Volt battery you have ever seen. It is about the size of a 9.6 volt battery. That means small cells as compaired to the "Quality" 18 volt drill and about 1/2 the working time before recharge is required. -> if you're making lots of holes though go for a mains powered drill, and -> bigger isn't neccessarily better, I've got a chinese 1/4" drill that runs -> nice and fast (4000 rpm) for making small holes (like for 1/8" pop-rivets), -> 'cause my 1/2" drill maxes out at 1200 RPM and the cordless onlt does 800. Good point. One really needs several drills if they use them very much at all. I no longer have a 1.4" but do have a line powered 3/8" and 1/2". The 1/2" is a combo Regualr/Hammer Drill. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5* Origin: Shakey Jake's *ALL FREE BBS* Santee, CA (1:202/1324) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 202/1324 10/3 106/2000 633/267 |
