You won't find it in Max.Ctl.  Look in MSGAREA.CTL for your area definitions. 
If it is defined as a Squish area, that's where you'll find it.  Here's what 
mine looks like:

  Path      D:\Netmail\
  Override  MESSAGE Msg_Change Limited/E C
  Override  MESSAGE Msg_Enter Limited/E E

  Style     *.MSG Net Pvt
End MsgArea
The "Style" keyword shows the area type definition.
