subject: Bi-Color LEDS

Hello, Jean.
Almost caught up, but will maybe be behind again if I get many responses
to the responses I'm posting this weekend.

JH> But whatever, it is hard to argue with success, and if the pwr and
JH> reset switches work correctly, and the pwr and HDD leds work right,
JH> I think that should be about close enough.

JP> I will have to play a little more with the ON LED. It ought to be
JP> green but is amber. You mentioned a two colour LED for different
JP> functions. Maybe this connector is off by one pin ???

Hee. Just so happens, I had to go for a haircut today, and passing
right by that local surplus electronics parts place, of course I stopped
in. I dunno about the LED you had in your case, but I bought a few of
those two-lead bi-color LEDS. They get the two colors by reversing
polarity - - DC current going one way is amber, current going the other
way is green. Put AC on there, and both will light up.

JH> One thing - - I think I sent the mainboard with the Pwr switch set to
JH> instant off instead of 4 second delay. With the 4 second delay
JH> active, you punch the pwr button once and it goes into suspend mode.
JH> You have to hold it in for at least 4 seconds before it powers down
JH> normally. If it is set for 4 second delay, I think a bi-color LED is
JH> needed for the power indicator, as that (pretty much worthless) manual
JH> from MicronPC says that the power LED will change colors to Orange or
JH> RED when it goes into suspend mode.

JP> That is what I need to look into, the two colour LED. But the fact
JP> that the BIOS can be set one way or another is no matter here as I
JP> always do the Windows "Shut Down" routine. It dies in 4 seconds.

We're talking about two different things here. I was talking about the
power-off settings in SETUP, for using the frontpanel power switch, and
you are talking about software soft-power off thru Winders.

JP> Let me wish you all the luck in the world. Seeking this out of date
JP> information is a real crusade.

A quest made more difficult as the seller (MicronPC) is out of business,
and GVC doesn't support much of anything with their name on it, and the
mfgr of the board (BCM) who was formerly in cahoots with GVC doesn't
support this particular board on their website.

... "Bother!" said Pooh, as he tried to make used-stuff work with
used-stuff.
