Thanks for the tip about the wizards.  When I was trying to work around the
wizards it was quite difficult to get the damn XP machine to display the
options that are quite easy to display on Win9x or Win2K.

My wife is an example of non-programmer non-engineer types.  XP doesn't
bother her, because she didn't understand how to do the slightest bit of
system setup stuff before, so the fact that XP makes this 10 times harder
is not noticeable to her.  I don't think XP is any easier for her to use,
just isn't harder since she didn't know what she was doing regarding setup
anyway.
