well, i very much doubt that they ever will do so... they write oses,
yes, and they have created the most fertile environments for viruses
that have ever existed... dos, windows, visual basic for word, visual
basic for applications... not the actions of people who think much about
anti-viral security...
on top of that, it's considered unlikely that any newcomers will ever
have a chance to catch up with the existing av companies... there are
over 14,500 viruses out there now, microsoft has neither the expertise
nor the manpower to catch up with 11 years of virus undergoing
potentially exponential growth...
on top of that, it's questionable how much of anything microsoft
actually wrote all by themselves...

AN> is very good, many people use it.
nav has the software empire of symantec behind it, that's why you've
"heard" that it's good... it certainly is better at detecting viruses
than msav, (symantec also owns the rights to msav now) but the overall
detection rate still isn't all it should be... there's more than a half
dozen scanners that are better...
... ow that you know that i know that you know that i kn...**
