Jim,
Greetings.
JJ> I have recently installed and am trying out the evaluation version of
JJ> TFW 1.15d.
JJ> Is this the most recent release of Telix for Windows?
As far as I know it is... I too have 1.15d for windows (mine is registered).
JJ> I like the program pretty well so far, but one thing I would like to
JJ> able to do that I haven't been able to figure out so far, is to set
JJ> port speed individually for each individual entry in the phonebook
JJ> you can with Telix for DOS.)
I don't think so - the port speed seems to be standard for all calls.
JJ> Of the 4 BBSs I call, on 3 of them I can establish a 28.8 connect
JJ> quickly and reliably if the port speed is set at either 38400 or On
JJ> one BBS, however, I cannot connect easily at either of those
JJ> settings.. it takes repeated trials & redials before I finally OK.
JJ> But I've found that by limiting the speed to 19200 for that
JJ> particular board I can connect the first time every time, and the
JJ> tradeoff in speed is well worth not having to keep dialing over and
JJ> again.
Try the port speed for 115,200 just for the heck of it. I have a 33.6 fax
modem and I connect without any difficulty - unfortunately the phone lines
have their limits - the highest I was able to connect was at 31,200.
JJ> Unfortunately, I can only find one place to change the port speed
JJ> setting, and it appears to be a global setting that effects all calls
JJ> made.
JJ> Is there a way to custom set that for each phonebook entry that I
JJ> happen to be missing?
There might be but I don't know.
The problem with the one BBS you are having troubles with may not be from
your end at all, it could be the phone lines or with the BBS itself.
Sorry if I wasn't much help.
Take care,
Pam
