BW>American Airlines had a ton of
BW> JC> them and they were based at BUF, ORD, LGA. BAC-111-400.
BW>I wasn't aware that AA had them. -400? Does that mean the fourth
BW>version, or was there no -200 or -300? Do you know of any flying
BW>today? There must still be some around.
Boy Bill, you wouldn't want me to start lying to you here would you. I
never flew the A/C but I was ........ close to doing so just before they
went out of service. I'm just guessing here but I think that Braniff
had the -200 I don't know if there was a -300. The Crews loved them as
they were off the beaten path and made it a little more challenging.
Pilot wise it had Nose Wheel Steering on both Pilot and Co-Pilot side so
as Co-Pilot you got to get used to maneuvering around ORD and LGA.
I know that they are flying today. It made it an attractive purchase to
Companies that wanted a Jet and at a very attractive price. It had the
Roll-Royce Spey engine and was a noisy bugger. I seem to recall that
there was a stretched version and of course you see the most of them in
England.
