On the 29/02/96, Rod waffled to Dieter..

 Hello Rod,

DM> All I can see is reported line levels. (AT%L) Would that help at all ?

RS> Well, its better than nothing. Ideally it would be nice to borrow

I seem to have pretty low levels connecting to TML.

RS> a Courier and measure your line properly, particularly calling Dave
RS> Drummonds immaculate line. We have that from Bill and Russ and the
RS> difference is fucking amazing, particularly when graphed in a
 RS> spreadsheet.

 I'll try Dave's line too.

RS> Why dont you try borrowing Paul Markhams Courier and actually
RS> measuring your line performance properly ? Its a hell of a
RS> diagnostic tool. Close to a proper line tester in fact now.

I'll see if I can borrow a modem from work first - I think I saw
a Hayes floating around. And even a Netcomm, although I am
unsure of the actual models. I'm sure they wont mind an
 overnight lend.
