Notice of Regatta
OYSTR Ottawa-River Youth Sail Training Regatta
NEPEAN SAILING CLUB
Nepean - Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
AUGUST 23-25, 1996
1. THE EVENT :
The Ottawa-River Youth Sail Training Regatta will be organised by
the Nepean Sailing Club and will be held from Friday August 23
through Sunday August 25 1996. Now in its 7 year, two objectives
have emerged in the running of this regatta. The first and
original objective is to offer young sailors the opportunity to
experience dinghy racing having completed sail training
during the summer. Given the existing established sailing
programs OYSTR also offers a competitive venue for seasoned
racers to enhance their skills.
OYSTR is part of the Trillium Series organised by the Ontario
OptimistDinghy Association, to promote Optimist racing in
Ontario.

Nepean Sailing Club (NSC) is managed and operated on behalf of
the City of Nepean and Small Craft Harbours. The Club
offers a compete range of Youth/Adult sailing courses which meet
Canadian Yachting Association (CYA) Standards and also sponsors
Club, inter-club, provincial and national sailing regattas. NSC

Avenue in Nepean. The Club is situated on the south shore of the
Ottawa River, at Lac Deschenes. You can reach the Club by exiting
Hwy 417 at Moodie Drive. Take Moodie Drive north to Carling Ave,
head east (right) to the first set of stop lights at Bedale. Turn
left into Dick Bell Park.
CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS
The Nepean Sailing Club is a family-oriented, volunteer-based
organisation, which was established in 1979 with the goal of
providing accessible and affordable sailing, by promoting
volunteerism in its members. It is a member's Club--built and run
by the members. The running of OYSTR follows on this same
principle. If you want to learn more about the youth programs,
how to run a race or just want to participate in the thrill of
watching our youth enthusiastically embrace sailing and racing,
give us a call. We will require assistance on the committee boat,
on the safety boats, at the docks and at the clubhouse for lunch
and BBQ preparations. If you have race co-ordination experience,
your help is also welcome with open arms.
