Using an ancient Captain Midnight secret decoder ring at Warp speed,
Paul Nixon, sent the following message to Rd Thompson:
PN> EP> right thing. We *should not* blame Dennys for local policies
PN> EP> they cannot control. The local owners are, however, a valid
PN>
PN> JD> While I agree with what you say, there is one reason for boycoting
all
PN> JD> Deneys. we need to put enough pressure on all of them to see that
PN> JD> baning handguns would be economicly unsound. let them get a taste
of
PN> JD> guilt by association, if one dennys is anti-gun, then they all must
PN> JD> be, so they won't get me money.
PN>
PN> RT> IOW, if I owned the Denny's in your area and *allowed* firearms, you
PN> RT> would boycott me because of some Denny's in Boston or somewhere?
PN>
PN> If a given region bans carry, but the rest don't, and the folks in the
PN> rest of the country don't support a boycott by gun folk in the region
PN> that _is_ banning, where is the economic incentive for the banner to
PN> change policy?
That fact that you don't eat at a Denny's in Mesa doesn't make a damn
bit of difference to a Denny's in Boston. There is no incentive for
Boston to change based on your decision of where to eat. However, if
you don't eat at my place, because of a gun ban in Boston, I may just
say the hell with it, you really don't support me anyway.
PN> IOW, Denny's in Mesa bans, Denny's in Phoenix doesn't. What to do?
Obviously, when I desired to eat at Denny's it would be in Phoenix and
not in Mesa.

PN> I recognize there's disagreement here, and I believe it's a valid point
PN> some people make to continue to patronize those outlets that don't ban
PN> as a matter of support.
It is the right way to go. If I don't ban in my store, why should I
be picketed or boycotted the same as those that do?
PN> But I would suggest that if we don't hang together we'll hang
PN> separately...
PN>

As do I. I do not shop or purchase from vendors who ban guns from
their establishments and I do frequent those who do not ban. The
bottom line is that the owner of the property makes his/her choice
concerning whether or not to ban on their private property. I make my
choice as to whether or not to purchase anything form them.

Sleep well tonight, Paul....
