RW>>When I do a ping to some of these sites (www.weather.com is one that
RW>>hasn't work since I upgraded to NT), sometimes I get "destination net
RW>>unreachable". This sounds like a routing problem to me, but for the
RW>>life of me, I don't know what the problem could be. My route tables
RW>>are VERY simple. The only route that I have added manually is the
RW>>one to enable RAS to route packets, because I have wcPPP installed.
RW>>I don't believe this is the problem, since my other NT machine is the

RW>>Any more suggestions?
RW>>Thanks much!
JB> Rob,
JB> I just checked this morning and I cannot reach www.weather.com either
JB> via ping or traceroute and we are an ISP. The traceroute stops at MCI in
JB> Atlanta. However, port 80, web serives are getting through. This may be
JB> sitting behind a firewall. One thing to remember is that many websites
JB> and ISPs are starting to filter a lot of UDP types of functions (i.e.
JB> ping etc..). This often makes troubleshooting more difficult.
www.weather.com is up and down like night and day. The site was hit very hard
yesterday while those of us in this neck of the woods were getting dumped on.
I would not use www.weather.com as a good benchmark on how my system is
working on the internet. Too many times I find the site unreachable, even by
Windows 95.
