I read April somewhere, but the site says "some major suppliers". However,
USR did say that all X2 modems qualified for a FREE upgrade to
the new standard, when it is passed. They did NOT say "excludes OEM models".
They will learn to be more careful of what they actually say. It really
doesn't make a difference until V.90 servers are out. My ISP is X2 and
K56 and will be upgrading everything to the V.90. On the Dell WebTalk
support page, customers are saying IF a class action is needed to get
our V.90, then it will be USR that we go after and not Dell, because
Dell did not make these statements about a FREE upgrade to V.90.
I'll wait and see what happens, but how long can I wait? The webpage
says free V.90 expires 12/31/98. If the flash I need for my Sportster isn't
available by October or November, then I'll have no choice. If the
12/31/98 date is changed, then my date could be changed.
