Almost all 14400 connections to this BBS manage to move files at around
115cps (reported by Bink).  This suggests to me that their modems a busy
transferring the data, not pissing around with retrains.

dunno about that one - never experienced it.

The ATZ situation in the USRs was only a problem with you. The rest of us
recognised it as an operating difference not unlike the quite different
command set and adjusted to it.

As a high proportion of users probably only ever dial out with their
modems, they wouldn't have even noticed it.  It only shows when answering
calls.

Note.  NOWHERE in the 3 USR (printed) manuals that I have here do they
suggest using ATZ alone, as an initialiation string
