 I thought the Maxtor Diag disk(PowerMax) does that.
Perhaps not though as I know some drive manfacturers require the Drive
be sent back for Low Level Formatting.

I have used the Western Digital utility and it worked Great.
It also does some Deep testing and gives you a recomendation for
Replacement, OR getting a RMA if it is still under Warranty.
