Hi Harry,

The concept of "production" at IBM is probably one of massive batches
of media being written and then stored in a wharehouse until they are
needed. Whipping off a few of the latest release would be too small a
job for IBM.

A product manager at IBM released the PL/I compiler as a hardware
device, so it wasn't offered to software resellers. He/she really
understood the product being marketed ... NOT!!

I sometimes wish I were dumb enough to be a product manager. I'd make
more money, get to go on trips to all the best customer sites, not
have to worry about quality of code, ...

I no longer have access to a card reader. Those things are very scarce
these days. I'm afraid I had to type the source code into Tritus SPF
or LPEX. Some of the ink on the top of some of the cards had smudged or
faded, so I had to read the punched holes myself on those cards.
