i don't know about this one but...

i ran into something similar while testing voice software for use over the 
internet (ie: inet phone, cooltalk, powwow, etc)... it wasn't until others 
told me that they were hearing music instead of my voice that it suddenly 
clicked!!
  access the mixer controls and check to see if your input is from the CD or 
from the line/mic ... in my case, i had it set to the CD instead of the 
line/mic -=B-)
