subject: Gasoline fuel cell.

I finally heard some discussion on the recently announced gasoline fuel
cell that was developed by the E.D.Little Co. of Boston. The chief
scientist in the team turns out to be a McGill grad and he was being
interviewed on the CBC's Quirks & Quarks science news show.
What he said was that this type of cell had already existed for a while
but that all the elements of the technology hadn't yet fallen into place
to form a complete system in the lab until now.
It was mentioned on the show that another team at the U.Manitoba has
also announced having developed such a system in parallel.
When asked when his new system could be expected to find its way into an
automobile he replied that not before at least the year 2005.
Well, it was fun to have my hopes up while it lasted. I would have liked
to learn more details but then again these sorts of breakthroughs are
often pretty much proprietary for a while at the begining.
