DD> create a set of files (preferably empty) in that directory that are

This should do what you want:
for %a in (*.jpg) do rem>%{at}name[%a].txt
It makes a 0-byte file for each .jpg file.
DD> Also, is there a way to convert a directory containing filenames in
DD> upper and lower case into filenames that are only uppercase?
for %a in (*.*) do ren %a %{at}upper[%a]
DD> I'm running Warp 4 with 4OS2/32 Version 2.5 and 4DOS Ver 4.02.
These work with the 6.01 (the latest version?). I'm not sure if
they work with 4.02.
