Hi Brian,
BLÃHELP.. I need to learn Access. What would be the best route? I don't have
Ãthe program yet, have never used it and I'm having trouble understanding
Ãthe messages in this area. Not too surprising but, I tagged it to see if
Ãthere were things I could pick up. It doesn't seem so because I've never
Ãseen it or used it. Thanks from a prospective new user.
There are several ready-made courses available on CD. I have not
reviewed them but I would suspect this would be better than the
"self-paced" instruction books that I used. It does not take long to
get up and running with Access. When you start writing code you can do
some real nice tricks but that is not really necessary to design
an excellent database.
I would also suggest that you browse the Microsoft web site and get the
free "White Papers" on database design. They are very informative, but
a little technical for a beginner in overall database design.
There are many good reference books available. Some are more technical
than the Microsoft - supplied books, some less.
BTW, I've upgraded to Access 7, started with 1. If you have a choice,
go with 7 or the newer Access 97 which I have not seen yet. I am
forced to use 2 for all my work due to limitations of my office
computer. Hopefully this will change soon....
