Hello, Roy J. Tellason, I'd like you to meet my friend, Dr. Lao...
RJT> GIGO is what I use here, and although there are a lot of capabilities
RJT> in the package it's not all that complicated compared to some of them.
Maybe it's not, but it sure looks that way when the *.faq, *.doc, *.txt, *.etc
total over -40- files!
jb>> As it stands now I could easily kludge some utils together to
jb>> convert the plain text inet msgs to packets, then toss them.
RJT> Yeah? You think it's that easy?
Easiest of all, I have 4 or 5 text to *.msg converters. In fact Harvey can
squirt them directly into packets.
In the other direction, been thinking about dusting off MKMSG and giving that a
twirl, convert directly from *.msg to text. Only difficulty there is I have no
experience dealing with 'lastreads', but I could probably work that out.
The only thing uncomfortable about internet text to fidonet is alla them
unnecessary headers, but I could whip up a sanitizer in half an hour.
jb>> What i don't happen to have on hand is something to split the
jb>> fido packets into compatible text msgs.
RJT> Sounds to me like that's what a tosser does, no?
*.msg, or any common fidonet format AFAIK is not 'straight' plain text. Pure
human readable ascii is easy to deal with, awk and perl and such, especially
with this 'low volume' stuff like a few dozen list msgs a day.
jb>> - Origin: woc'in the path in the fifth age (1:141/355)
RJT> Wow, been a while since I saw a "woc" origin line...
Similar to using qmail, msged and bt, I've never had a need to try anything
else. :)
:-)
