I just received this over the AVWEB:
DAMN THE DUCT TAPE: BOEING SUED FOR AEROPERU CRASH
To no one's surprise, the families of 28 victims of the AeroPeru Flight
603 disaster filed suit against Boeing in Miami's Federal District Court
last week. According to a press release issued by the law firm, they
claim that multiple design defects in the 757-200 aircraft sensor and
computer systems--plus the company's failure to adequately train for
and warn of those defects -- brought about rthe October 1996 crash that
killed 70 off the coast of Peru. No word on whether the legal eagles
are going after mechanics who left tape masking air sensors and static
ports, or the dead pilot's families for the flawed preflight.
