subject: Testing ATX power sup

Hi JIM.

JH> A "sample" ATX 300W PS here has on its label - -
 JH> +5V Max 30 A
 JH> +3.3 V Max 14A
 JH> Max combined power on +5 and +3.3 - - 160W
 JH> +12V Max 12 A
 JH> -5V Max 0.5A
 JH> -12V Max 1.0A
 JH> +5Vsb Max 3A

JH> So which particular automotive light bulbs would you recommend for
 JH> testing each of these?

on the 30A +5V stick sufficcient 6v motorcycle headlamps.
for the 3.3 you may need a resistor

the +12 coult run a pair of 70W headlamps.
-5 at 0.5 should could be a 6V 3W flashlight globe.
-12 at 1A could be a pair of 5W park light lamps.

+5 at 3A possibly a 6V 12W motocycle lamp or lamps...

JH> (Remembering that the pins of the ATX standard power connector are
JH> rated for 6A Max for each pin).

parallel the equivalent pins together... the load will spread itself out.
