Do you periodically do a folders|compact|all folders in OE?  I find that
necessary.  How big is your inbox?  I find OE cranky with more than 300
messages in each folder.

And I don't trust the auto-compact-in-background.  It may be better now,
but it bit me hard in the OE 5.0 era.
