I am looking for a daggerboard type racing boat of @ 26 or so feet. I
want to race and camp out with my two boys (3 1/2 and 4 3/4 years
respectively) I saw a 79 Ranger 26 with an open transom that looked ok
until the owner wanted too much money. I know that all buyers think
that. Well you tell me if the gelcoat was scruffed off because it was
damaged in a storm and you can see matte and roving and some rips in the
hull to deck joint. Next, the hull was buckled where the jack stand
was to the point of breaking loose the internal support longitudinal.
The mast was up and showed kinks in the rigging and a pronounced twist
in the top of the mast above the spreaders. Teak trim on
the centerboard trunk was rotted from sitting in water for so long, and
the v berth cushons were disintegrating the the touch, to name a few
problems. I thought it was worth @ 1000. 00 and might have negotiated
if the owner took of the rose colored glasses. I do like the type of
boat and if you want to tell me about yours I will listen here. Show me
yours and I May try and make it mine.
