The BBS machine has SET MAXIMUS=D:\MAX\.RM
The network machine has SET MAXIMUS=F:\MAX.PRM
Those paths are correct.

In the root directory of drive D which the network sees a drive F.

I'm trying to run it from drive F on the network machine.  If I run it from 
drive D on the BBS machine it works fine.

Cannot open file f:\farea.dat

Yes.  I've been running squish across the network for ages.
