1237d5019cb4 tech Hello Maurice - CA>> With the WWW top-heavy with graphics 'smaller and faster' CA>> is good. MK> It can be. Certainly items worthy of consideration when MK> assessing browsers. CA>> I'm not seeing what you are seeing but I run in 32 bit CA>> True Color here. MK> Depends but in the case of X it is set to 24-bit graphics MK> which I believe is True Colour. I am under the impression MK> that 32-bit is classed as Infinite Colours. I could be MK> wrong. Framebuffers on the console default to 16-bit but MK> with the Matrox card I can change resolutions and bits on MK> the fly. Truly awesome. It dazzles the locals everytime MK> they see it. They find it unbelievable what their eyes are MK> seeing and say so after their initial shock wears off. I MK> like it too. I like what I'm using but it has caused me to overshoot my 'target' a few times using graphics that look terrible on webpages when viewed on monitors at 16 bit settings. CA>> The quality seems the same (to me) so I opt for speed. :-) MK> If you check out tables sometimes Opera shows gaps where MK> other browsers don't. At least this is true for the Linux MK> version. I have no idea about the Windows version. However MK> if I lived on a GUI I might consider this a minor MK> inconvenience and also opt for speed. Luckily that isn't an MK> issue here. I present my webpages for others to use. If they prefer graphics I give them graphics but I don't ignore the text-only browsers and do try to maintain 'anybrowser' pages. No one has complained so far. :-) CA>> Are you aware of LINKS(2) that can do either graphical or CA>> text-only browsing? MK> Yep. The framebuffer graphics are nice but still need work. MK> I still mostly use text mode and am happy to say it is an MK> option. About 99.9% of the browsing I do is in text mode so MK> it works out for me. Tables and frames work well in text MK> mode, better then graphical mode in my humble opinion. If I MK> need graphics it is nice that they're there. Not a really MK> big issue though but fun to play with every once and awhile. I only have the LINKS that will render individual graphics and was surprised to find that there is a version that can be totally graphical.
