subject: DOS OS/2 Advice ??

Would someone here be kind enought to explain to me how OS/2
handles idle calls from a DOS application ??

Currently, I poll the keyboard for keystrokes, and call one or
more of the idle ints, after branching to one of my own
background procedures. The background procs from time to time
include a timer based on the BIOS save time area. (Checks the
   accumulated number, NOT hooked 1C).

The problem is, OS/2 seems to take these idle notices too
literally, and I have a hard time getting accurate readings from
the BIOS...what should be a 55 ms tick turns into four or five
   times that.

Surely there must be some simple method of giving up idle cycles
without getting put to sleep ?

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

                                               L.A.
