I can confirm that you CAN compile programs with VAC++ 3.01 on an 8MB 486,
but crawl is nearer the mark.  C++ does compile eventually, but the visual
tools don't work. (However, I couldn't get them to work on 24MB machine
either.)

However, I used to use a 8080 to compile from paper tape, so if the linker
output has the same date as the source program, I'm impressed :-)
