If that is that case with your setup, a back up of the MBR is a 
must.  But if you using a Older ISA bus compute a BIOS upgrade 
card or a Card like I'm using with one of the computers at my 
house is Enhaced IDE (with Bios update) and Supper I/O.  It does 
the trick. But the nice thing I got it at a close out for only $2 
dollars.  New some stores are asking $75 for it!
