Sometimes our favorite neck may not be best for us. Sounds strange, but when
I played both a Parker Fly and a Joe Pass Emperor, I did not care for the
feel of the neck at all... there was no deciding, the guitars said "don't buy
me" as soon as I wrapped my hand around the neck. At the same time, I'd
never played as well as I did on those necks. I couldn't miss a note if I'd
tried.
Sometimes it pays to "get used" to a neck that you may not care for at first.
Of my 12 or so electrics, I have probably 4 distinctly different necks, yet I
am equally proficient on all of them. The G&Ls are my favorite, followed by
the DEEP "V" neck on my Epiphone PR5-E acoustic.
