Unable to authenticate users???? Really? Not even using the local userid'es
etc (e.g. PAM)?

This is weird.....maybe it was all the pootling with OS/2 Lanman in my past
but I simply don't have a problem with samba. My next job is to move to
ldap for my home authentication as I've built a "family portal"
for friends & family & I want to separate out simple portal users
from machine level users.
