Maybe he's waiting for somebody to say "hey, that wah sounds great on
that part, you should use it" and nobody ever did.  I've never been a
big fan of the wah pedal, I always thought it was overused.
Thankfully you don't hear it as much as you used to.  I do like the
use of it on a few songs but it's far from my favorite effect.
