SB>What problems do you have with how Pascal handles text files?
Okay, that's a complex question. If we are talking Delphi, particularly
2.0, I have NO problems. If we are talking Turbo Pascal, I would
have preferred null-terminated strings, but can live with the
length-byte approach. BUT, if we are talking generic Pascal, I have
never been happy with the almost non-existent string handling present
there. In its purest form, it only provides for arrays of characters,
with no simple way of dealing with them as strings. (Uh, after looking
at this a second time, I realize that I made a error here. I am talking
about strings, and you were asking about text files, as was the original
writer.....and I was thinking about string handling.) Actually, I have
no problems with how it handles text files.
