Eh, good equipment makes a difference too, along with the furniture and
carpeting in the room. With my stereo, it's more like plop 5 speakers in
various locations around the room :) Then string tons of 16ga wire from them
to the reciever (which, right now, is a fairly high end JVC surround sound
system)
But yeah, a car does pose a very difficult challenge!

I'm only hitting about 150-200 RMS right now (cheap amp being the main
reason; my money right now is going to getting the car it's in fixed up
somewhat). But it's still plenty loud, and has plenty of bass if you're
inside the truck. If you're standing outside, and the windows are up, you
can hardly hear a thing (mainly because of all the sound deadening material
smeared all over the place inside the truck). I consider it a starter system
though... :
Clarion DRB4275 CD head unit
Boss AVA-650 "300w" amp (yeah, RIGHT.. more like 30x4 instead of
75x4!)
8" SAS Bazooka tube (soon to be replaced with some real bass makers)
Alpine 6.5"'s in the doors
Audio Art 1" tweeters on the kickpanels
The Alpines and Audio Arts are wired to Audio Art passive xovers, and there's
also caps on the Alpines to keep the low bass going to the tube (which is
crossed over at about 120hz)
