| subject: | EMX GNU C 2.6.3 |
RD> Has anyone used the GNU EMX C/C++ OS/2 compiler v2.6.3 RD> found on Hobbes? If RD> so what were your opinions of the compiler. I have recently found myself RD> have a little spare time and I would like to teach myself C++, however I RD> don't know much about the language or what compilers are out there, RD> especially for OS/2. I'm using the latest port of EMX here, and although I find it to be a decent compiler, I'm no makefile wizard. :-) For anything serious, I generally use Watcom 10.6... Also, I find that there are many hurdles not related to C/C++ when learning EMX that may make it "not the best" platform for learning C/C++... such as makefiles, directory structures, gdb (gnu debug), etc. OTOH, if you have the spare time to learn, but not the money, its price can't be beat. :-) --- Maximus/2 3.01* Origin: Tanktalus' Tower BBS (PVT) (1:342/708) SEEN-BY: 50/99 270/101 620/243 625/100 711/401 409 410 413 430 808 809 934 SEEN-BY: 711/955 712/407 515 624 628 713/888 800/1 @PATH: 342/5015 61 3615/50 396/1 270/101 712/515 711/808 934 |
